Tessian Cloud Email Security vs. Legacy Email Security Project Highlights

Tessian’s mission is to secure the human layer. Using machine learning technology, Tessian automatically stops data breaches and security threats caused by human error – like data exfiltration, accidental data loss, business email compromise, and phishing attacks – with minimal disruption to employees’ workflow. As a result, employees are empowered to do their best work, without security getting in their way.

Founded in 2013, Tessian is backed by renowned investors like Sequoia, Accel, March Capital, and Balderton, and has offices in San Francisco and London.

As a cloud email security company focusing on human layer risk, Tessian’s platform touches many other technologies in the security space. These include Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Secure Email Gateways (SEG), Phishing prevention, and more. For audiences to better understand Tessian’s technology and value, relative to other solutions, it was important that we address many of the questions about how they either worked in conjunction with these other solutions, or in many cases, how Tessian could replace multiple technologies in an organization’s security stack.

Challenges

One of Tessian’s bigger challenges was differentiating against some of the larger legacy email security vendors in the market, such as Mimecast, Microsoft, as well as DLP-specific vendors. The Tessian sales team consistently needed content that helped them address objections, while also explained Tessian’s value proposition and perspective on the market and technology.

  • Extensive whitepaper addressing legacy security solutions vs. the benefits of Tessian
  • Multi-channel campaign launched
  • Repurposed content into several new assets
  • Production of bylines and thought leadership on email security topics
  • Doubled the win-rate against Tier-1 competitors
  • Demo requests increased by 217% in 30 days
  • Over 1000 downloads of the paper in 60 days
